CNC Shaping Pre Shapes

The Surfboard Studio offers CNC pre-shape cutting for polyurethane surfboard blanks using APS3000 hardware and AKUShaper design files.

Bring your own PU blank or order one through the studio, then supply the required file and board details so the cut can be prepared accurately.

CNC work is currently available for polyurethane blanks only. EPS blanks are not serviced at this stage.

Process

How CNC Pre-Shaping Works

1. File & Blank

Send an AKUShaper .BRD file and confirm whether you are supplying the blank or buying one through the studio.

2. Payment & Queue

All CNC work is paid in full before cutting begins. Typical turnaround is around two weeks from payment and file approval.

3. Pre-Shape Cut

The APS3000 cuts the rough foam contour, rocker, rails, and profile details ready for hand-finishing or production work.

AKUShaper File

Custom CNC cuts must be supplied as AKUShaper .BRD files. The APS3000 is set up around that file format.

Supply your own polyurethane blank or choose from the studio's blank range before the job is prepared.

APS3000 CNC Cutting

The APS3000 cuts accurate three-dimensional contours into a rough foam blank, reducing the early shaping work and improving consistency for prototypes, limited runs, and production shaping.

The service suits individual builders refining a design, backyard shapers, small manufacturers, and brands producing retail or promotional ranges.
