How do I choose a sanding grit?

Lower grit numbers cut faster and leave deeper scratches. Higher numbers refine the surface. Start with the least aggressive grit that will do the job and move through suitable stages without making large jumps.

What is the difference between 150 mm and 200 mm sanding discs?

The diameter must match the backing pad and machine. Do not fit a disc simply because the grit is correct; confirm both the size and the attachment system.

Can SIA Speed discs be used on epoxy and polyester resin?

The current SIA Speed disc descriptions list them for sanding cured epoxy or polyester glass jobs. Allow the resin to cure fully and follow the resin and tool instructions.

When should I use wet-and-dry sheets?

Wet-and-dry sheets suit later finishing stages on cured resin, repairs or gloss work. Use water only when the product and process permit it, and keep finishing sheets free of coarse debris.

Are shaping screens the same as ordinary sandpaper?

No. Gauze shaping screens have an open, flexible structure that can follow rails and contours. Sanding sheets and discs suit other blocks, pads and finishing stages.
