What length surfboard leash do I need?

Start with a leash close to the board's length and follow the maker's guidance. Shortboards commonly use shorter leashes, while mid-lengths and longboards need additional length.

What is the difference between a competition and standard-duty leash?

Competition-style leashes prioritise lower drag and a lighter cord. Standard-duty leashes generally prioritise everyday strength. Choose only within the conditions specified for the product.

Should a longboard leash attach at the ankle or calf?

Both styles are available. Choose the cuff position designed for the product and your longboard use, then make sure the cord length and duty suit the board and surf.

How often should I replace a legrope?

There is no safe fixed interval for every surfer. Replace it when the cord, cuff, swivels, rail saver, string or fastenings show damage, wear, stretching or unreliable movement.

What is a leash string for?

The leash string connects the rail saver to the board's leash plug or loop. Fit it correctly, keep the knot secure and replace it if it becomes cut, frayed or stiff.
