Shaping Bay Hire At The Surfboard Studio
The Surfboard Studio offers shaping bay hire for experienced shapers who need a proper space, stands, tools, air, and dust extraction for surfboard shaping.
Bay hire is for shaping only. Glassing bays are not available for hire, and tuition is not included in the hire rate.

Custom shaping stands, air compressor access, extraction fans, and a dedicated shaping space.
Shaping Tools
Rasps, planes, saws, files, shavers, electric drills, routers, flexpads, foam pads, and shaping blocks.
Measuring Tools
Layout square, rulers, compass, gauges, protractors, callipers, and fin or plug markers.
Requirements
Best For Experienced Shapers
Bay hire is best suited to intermediate, advanced, or expert shapers. It is not recommended for novice shapers because tuition is not included and early shaping mistakes are common.
If you are new to shaping, start with a TSS shaping course or the Make Your Own Board course before booking independent bay hire.

CNC Pre-Shape
Pre-shapes should be ordered at least two weeks before your allocated bay hire date.
CNC CuttingAbrasives
Multiple sanding pad grits are available for shaping and finish preparation.
Board Packing
Boards can be bubble wrapped for travel home or transport to a glasser after shaping.
